Nike Air Jordan 5 (V) – White / Dark Cinder – Del Sol

The Air Jordan 5 (V) recently released via the Defining Moments Package 2, and we are now receiving word that pictured Air Jordan 5 will release internationally today. This pair was originally previewed in March, and then we had a detailed look of the sneaker in May. We now have a look at the retail version, which hosts a white patent leather upper accented by a yellow sole, brown contrast stitching, brown tongue, dark army mid-sole, and an extremely unique inner lining. As previously mentioned, the Air Jordan 5 (V) – White/Dark Cinder-Dark Army-Del Sol will release at international retailers today, June 27, 2009.

Air Jordan V (5) “Toro Bravo” Pack | Release Date: May 30, 2009

These two pairs of kicks have been known by many names in the past, such as the “Raging Bull Pack” or the “Defining Moments Package 2“. The “Toro Bravo” Pack consists of two colorways of the Air Jordan V (5), and has a confirmed release date of May 30th. Each colorway has an unique inspiration behind it, such as Michael Jordan’s passion for the game. As with every other Air Jordan pack, these come in a special double box created with an interesting design. Air Jordan V (5) Raging Bull Pack – Black / Varsity Red / 3M

The first images of the Air Jordan V (5) Raging Bull Pack spawned a great amount of comments of anticipation for the second coming of the Defining Moments Package (DMP). Soon after the single picture was posted came new images of the red suede Air Jordan V from the Raging Bull Pack. Now that the red suede model has been seen up close, the second pair is visited highlighting the 3M detail. Aside from its 3M base, this Air Jordan V consists of black and touches of varsity red on the 23, tongue and on the midsole. As of now, release date is still slated for May with no word of change.

Air Jordan Original – OG 5 (V) Fire Reds White / Red – Black 23

Known to many sneaker heads as “Fire Reds” the Air Jordan Original 5 (V) pictured features White / Red – Black color-way with 23 stitched at the heel. The Air Jordan OG 5 (V) Fire Reds did not have a 3M tongue like other OG Jordan 5 (V) that released.

The solid Red misole is the main eye catcher, plus the Black flame helps bring attention. The Air Jordan 5 (V) Original Fire Reds was the last Air Jordan OG 5 to release, which was in November of 1990.

If 1990 can see it now, when the Air Jordan 5 (V) Original Grapes released, they sat on shelves and places actually sold for a discounted price. Their was something at the time that the OG Air Jordan 5 (V) Grapes contained, maybe the White / Grape Ice – New Emerald color scheme.

Fast forward to the current date, nowadays, the Air Jordan Original 5 (V) Grapes are sought after by all Original Jordan collectors. Most pairs have cracked, and prices have sky rocketed. The Air Jordan OG 5 (V) Grapes dropped in the Summer of 1990.

1990 was yet another successful year for Michael Jordan, although he did not take home a Championship. During the 1990 season one of the color schemes worn was the Air Jordan Original 5 (V) Black / Black – Metallic Silver.

One factor to the Air Jordan OG 5 (V) Black / Black – Metallic Silver (and all OG Air Jordan V) was the netting did not yellow, due to a different material that is used now. Released February 1990, and the Air Jordan Original 5 (V) Black / Metallic Silver retailed for $124.99.

Air Jordan 5 (V)

Air Jordan V – Air Jordan 5

The Air Jordan 5 was released in February 1990. Four models of the Air Jordan V was released to the public. Two models which are the Black/Black-Metallic Silver and White/Fire Red-Black had MJs number “23″ on the side. Limited to only 100 pairs each, and were given to unfortunate kids or auctioned off as charity.

The Air Jordan V was the first in the Air Jordan line to have a clear rubber sole. Tinker Hatfield also designed the Nike Marty MacFly’s featured in the movie Back to the Future II, they had clear molding which allowed light to come through, and that is were Tinker got the idea from.

Also the AJ 5 was the first time anyone had ever molded foam into a shoe upper.

When you look at the AJ V besides the icey soles, what else do you notice? What I notice is the flames on the side. Tinker came to the conclusion that the way Michael performed was “like a Fighter Plane”. When the AJ 5 was designed, the inspiration was “grey nurse shark” or Super marine Spitfire MkVIII, which is a World War II British fighter plane. To add to the finishing touches of the shoe, Tinker added a reflective 3M tongue with Jumpman embroidery.

When the Air Jordan 5 first came out in 1990 they retailed for $125.00. In 2000 when the AJ V made its second appearance they sold for $120.00. 2006 Jordan Brand will re-release the Air Jordan V once again, but this time with a $135.00 price tag.
